First Action prides itself on quality facilitation
First Action facilitators come from all walks of life and with various backgrounds, but all are specifically trained in the First Action courses they facilitate. Please note that we use the word facilitate, as opposed to teach, instruct or train. This is because we believe people learn better if they 'teach themselves'. At First Action we understand that what works well for us may not work so well for others. We don't force people to do it our way. We merely show them our way, then they are free to use the information they are given to discover what works best for them. Of course we are always there to help if any questions or issues arise during the learning process.
To ensure quality through facilitator to participant ratio First Action holds a policy of a maximum of 14 participants per facilitator for Self Defence and 7 participants per facilitator for Survival and Fusion courses.
First Action provides a minumum of one Senior First Aid Qualified facilitator per course for Self Defence Courses. In the case of Survival Courses, all facilitators hold at least a Senior First Aid Certificate with at least one Wilderness First Aid qualified facilitator per course. Where applicable, Working With Childrens Checks are also a must for all facilitators.
Below are biographies of some of the key personel behind First Action.
- Jeevan Lim-Nunez - Director
- Jemima Hollroyd Pearce - Fitness Specialist
"I aim to constantly improve my skills and further my knowledge in the areas of Self Defence, Survival and the training of others, and then use this knowledge to improve courses and quality of instruction."
Jeevan has worked as an Outdoors Instructor since 2005 for a variety of companies. He holds a Certificate 4 in Outdoor Recreation (specialising in Bushwalking and Roping) and over this time, as well as being a soldier in the Royal Australian Army, he has developed a keen interest and intimate knowledge in bush survival, camping skills and bushwalking.
He has also held a passion for Martial Arts for as long as he can remember and has trained both formally and informally in a variety of Martial Arts since 1990. His vast knowledge in different styles of Martial Arts has enabled him to develop and deliver Self Defence courses which take the most practical and simple to learn no-nonsense techniques from all forms of Martial Arts.
In addition to the above, Jeevan also holds the following relevant qualifications and continues to learn through experience and training (formal and informal) so he can provide the most up to date techniques in First Action courses.
- Certificate 4 in Outdoor Recreation
- Surf Rescue Certificate
- Certificate 2 in Security
- Police Clearance
- Wilderness First Aid
- Senior First Aid
